Dark Fantasy Roleplaying in a Post-WWII Alternate History Dieselpunk Setting

TrainTravelIn the NecroMech game world the rail transportation system in Britain post-Rip is split between the Super Train for the wealthy and well-connected, contrasted with coal-burning mass-transit locomotives for the rest of the population. Non-stop speedy routes between major metropolitan cities such as London and Edinburgh on the aero-engined, Meta Engineered, Super Train provides twelve travelers with opulent, leather seating in a single aluminium cabin. Albeit streamlined for efficiency, with multiple stops and inherently lower speeds, mass-transit is much slower and often crowded (even in 1st class) due to a restricted rail schedule in times of coal rationing.

TrainRobberyOn only its second run between London and Edinburgh the new propeller-driven aluminum “Super Train” has been robbed. After resolving propeller safety and reliability in the original Schienenzeppelin design through Meta Engineering the non-stop 400 mile trip was billed as taking only two and half hours. But passengers and crew on-board offer singular reports of a “devil” seemingly appearing out of nowhere only 5 minutes into the journey. One passenger, later identified as Grady Gates, a M.E.T.A. employee, then falling to the floor screaming before everything goes completely black. The train immediately slowed to a complete stop, darkness lifting, the devil gone along with a briefcase belonging to Grady. Police reports indicate that Grady holds firm on the fact that his briefcase contained only trivial work papers. Nothing of value. And he as anyone is surprised by its apparent theft. He still refuses to discuss why he screamed so…

ClarkSurveillanceCoat

Agent Fox makes the ultimate in outdoor surveillance equipment, the Clark Coat developed for the SOE by Plessey, her own. A Gemstone Capacitor powered two-way receiver rides in a custom pocket in the lower back of her fur coat. A throat microphone is hidden in the (upturned) collar which also houses the jack plug connector to a set of earphones concealed in the fur-lined earflaps of her aviator hat. With a sophisticated aerial system sewn into the coat lining coupled to the considerable power boost available from the Gemstone Capacitor then communication in an urban setting is now possible up to ranges of 500 yards for almost indefinite periods of prolonged use in even extreme cold weather conditions.

As the song says “the weather outside is frightful” but for the discerning, fashion-conscious, woman this may not be the case with the new META Corset from Meta Engineering Technology Associates. Integrated long-life Gemstone Capacitor power supply and variable heat control deliver the ultimate in cold weather comfort through gently warmed spiral steel boning. “Why not be hot when those around you are not?!”

Catacombs.pngODESSA, it is believed, operates their headquarters below the city in the Catacombs of Paris. One of our missing agents last reported that she saw a NecroMech Operative enter near the Montmartre cemetery. Her whereabouts and the entrance have yet to be discovered.

(Saturday, January 20th, 1950 – page 6) After an altercation in Covent Garden tube station last Friday evening that resulted in the arrest of one man, Henry Foster, age 27 and of no fixed abode, the police are interested in talking to this unidentified man called a “psycho” by the detained man. Wielding what is described as a shotgun on leaving the station the police consider this man armed and dangerous. Other witnesses are also asked to step forward as Henry’s, what can be best described as ravings, are questionable as he was arrested without trousers… claiming “they took on a mind of their own”.
